New AR-coated protection lens line tuned for 12 kW cutters

Our Series C dual-AR protection windows are now available across all standard diameters and thicknesses. Tested up to 24 J/cm² damage threshold, designed for the latest generation of high-power fiber lasers running 24/7 production.

The 12 kW threshold problem

Fiber laser cutters in the 6–8 kW class were the workhorses of the industry for nearly a decade. But as production tolerances have tightened and material thicknesses have grown, the market has shifted: 12 kW machines are the new standard on factory floors processing 30 mm carbon steel and 25 mm stainless.

That extra power doesn't come for free. Conventional single-side AR-coated protection windows — designed for 6 kW maximum — start to degrade after just 80–120 hours of duty at 12 kW. Coating peel, micro-pitting, and back-reflection damage are common failure modes. Operators end up replacing windows two or three times more often than spec sheets predict.

FIELD DATA
Across 47 high-volume customers running 12 kW cutters in 2025, we measured an average protection-window replacement interval of 96 hours on legacy single-AR optics — down from the 320 hours typical of 6 kW operation.

A dual-AR coating approach

Our Series C line uses a dual-side anti-reflection coating, tuned specifically for 1064 nm fiber lasers in the 10–15 kW power range. Both surfaces are coated, reducing reflection to under 0.15% per face — half the loss of conventional single-AR designs.

What changes in practice:

  • Damage threshold raised to 24 J/cm² (10 ns pulse), up from 15 J/cm² on our Series A line.
  • Surface flatness tightened to λ/4 on both sides — eliminating the parallax drift seen on cheaper single-AR windows.
  • Back-reflection cut by 60%, which directly extends the service life of the focus lens behind it.

The result, based on side-by-side testing at three customer sites: service intervals tripled compared to single-AR windows at the same power level.

Independent testing & results

Before shipping, every Series C batch is tested by an independent optical laboratory in Hangzhou. Tests cover transmittance across 200–2000 nm, interferometer surface mapping, microscope coating inspection, and accelerated humidity aging.

"At 12 kW continuous cutting, we used to swap protection windows every shift. With the Series C line we're now changing them weekly — and our focus lenses are lasting noticeably longer too."

Headline numbers from the test program:

  • Transmittance: 99.6% @ 1064 nm (avg across 50 sample lots)
  • Damage threshold: 24 J/cm² @ 10 ns pulse (verified at 23.8 J/cm² laboratory minimum)
  • Coating adhesion: 1,000 cycles humidity-temperature with zero peel
  • Field service life at 12 kW: ~280 hours (vs. ~96 hours for Series A)

Pricing & availability

Series C is in stock at all three of our warehouses — Taizhou, Rotterdam, and Los Angeles — across diameters D30, D32, D36, and D38, in thicknesses 3, 5, and 7 mm. MOQ is 3 pieces, with volume tiers starting at 50 pieces.

Single-piece pricing starts at $42 / pc. For volume distributors and high-consumption end users, our contracted pricing arrangements bring this down to $30–34 / pc with monthly committed quantities.
